The Young People's Chorus of New York City™ has distinguished itself as one of
the finest youth choruses in the world. Founded by its artistic director Francisco J.
Núñez, in 1988, with a commitment to diversity and musical excellence, the chorus
has won accolades for its performances on three continents everywhere, from
Carnegie Hall and the White House to Smetana Hall in Prague and St. Martin in the
Fields in London. The chorus represented the United States at the 2005 Seventh
World Symposium on Choral Music in Kyoto. They will return to Japan in summer
2009 for a four-week, 18-city tour of the country. The Young People’s Chorus was
recently honored to sing for Pope Benedict XVI at Yankee Stadium on his first papal
visit to the U.S.
“For over 20 years, the Young People’s Chorus has brought together hundreds of
gifted children from all ethnic, religious and economic background.” said Cathy
Rubin, Vice President of Marketing for Time For Lyme, Inc. and Co Chair Gala 2009,
“These children have worked together, learned together, made lifelong friends, and
developed exceptional artistic and creative skills. They are a shining example of
how the arts can help and serve others in need. We believe their performance on
April 18 will inspire the Lyme community worldwide.”
“Lyme Disease can devastate someone’s life just because they went outside,” said
Nancy Bloom, Executive Director of Young People’s Chorus. Sadly, children are
highest at risk due to their outdoor activities. It is our dream that our children will inspire
the hope and the courage to help Time for Lyme realize its dream – to create a
Lyme free world.” |
