Our organization started as a small, local Lyme disease advocacy group in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1998, in direct response to a growing need for Lyme disease awareness and education.  Today, Time For Lyme, Inc. (TFL), formerly The Greenwich Lyme Disease Task Force, is a 501(c)(3), all volunteer, non profit organization, and an affiliate of the national Lyme Disease Association (LDA). TFL is active in numerous Lyme and Tick-borne community, state, and national issues.  Our focus has grown to address the desperate need for research into tick-borne illness and the need for increased education and prevention programs.

Time For Lyme promotes education about tick-borne illness, including detection, prevention, and advocacy for students and families. Our efforts include educational programs delivered at community seminars, health fairs and professionally recorded programs made available for use throughout the country and beyond.

The promotion of education provides a secondary, yet significant opportunity to raise research funds as educated constituents recognize the need for scientific research. Our many supporters from the private and public sectors stand behind our effort to develop and fund this research program.  From the public sector, we are building a consensus of state and local legislators who support our advocacy efforts.  In 2007, Senator Dodd introduced SB 1708,  Lyme & Tick-Borne Disease Prevention, Education & Research Act of 2007, which would provide significant research funding to identify an accurate diagnostic test, better surveillance, and improved prevention techniques and education for tick-borne illnesses.  To learn more about our work, visit our Accomplishments and Goals sections.

We are all at risk for the ravages of tick-borne illness, especially our children. Yet we believe that all of our children deserve the same right of passage that we once had; the right to be children, and the right to play innocently and without fear of contracting a disease in their own backyard.  Our work will not be finished until we achieve this goal.
